Dr. Kunisch´s research interests focus on firm-level strategies, corporate headquarters, strategic change, and strategic leadership. He has a particular interest in the contributions of management in tackling grand challenges such as digital transformation and climate change.

His work has been published or is scheduled for publication in respective outlets such as the Academy of Management Annals, Business Horizons, Global Strategy Journal, Harvard Business Review, International Business Review, International Journal of Management Reviews, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Organization Design, Journal of World Business, Long Range Planning, McKinsey Quarterly, MIT Sloan Management Review, and Organizational Research Methods. He has also co-edited several management books on topics such as Mergers & Acquisitions, Strategic Leadership and the Demographic Change.

Dr. Kunisch has received significant accolades for his scholarship in strategic and international management. For example, in the 2019 forschungsmonitoring ranking, he is listed 30 (i.e. top 10%) among all scientists in business administration “under 40 years” in the German speaking countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland and researchers who are born in these countries (just A+ publications; top 25% in other categories, respectively).
